grief is a natural emotional response to loss including the loss of the patient due to death or illness. so, nurses play a vital role in supporting patients and their families through loss, grief and dying, providing comfort, education and practical assistance. this support encompasses acknowledging the loss, actively listening to patient and family experiences, offering grief counselling and connecting with them with resources and also the nurses need to prioritize their own well-being and seek support when needed, as they too experience grief and stress when dealing with death and dying. Providing counselling and support groups can help individual navigate the grieving process. Health care professionals should be mindful of the physical needs of grieving individuals. And open communication with patients and families about their feelings is crucial.
