As someone who has never experienced the loss of a person I have never given the idea of grief, loss and death much thought in that sense. Loss and grief over things other than a loved one's passing is a horrible feeling and definitely something that cannot be overlooked.
After viewing the presentation I have more knowledge and understanding of the phases of emotion experienced by people who have lost someone in the sense of anger, denial, depression, bargaining and acceptance and I think that by learning about these stages it allows me to be able to care for and understand what my patient and their families are going through, even if I cannot understand the full magnitude of their feelings I can adjust myself to treating, talking to them, and caring for them in the utmost compassionate manner appropriate and possible.
