I was raised to “push through” and “just deal with it,” so I often kept things to myself, thinking it was a sign of strength. I didn’t always recognize the signs of burnout or realize how neglecting my own needs could affect how I perform as a student nurse.

After the presentation, my perspective changed. I learned that stress is not just emotional pressure—it’s a real physiological response that can build up over time if not managed properly. I also discovered that coping isn’t just about “being strong” or ignoring how you feel. It’s about actively taking care of yourself, setting boundaries, asking for help, and finding healthy outlet. I realized that it’s okay to feel stressed, but it’s important to respond to that stress in a way that protects my mental health.
