How does your personality affect the way you handle stress?

My personality plays a big role in how I handle stress. I tend to be calm and organized, which helps me stay focused when things get overwhelming. When I’m under pressure, I try to break things down into manageable steps and not panic. However, I’ve also noticed that I sometimes try to deal with stress alone instead of reaching out for help. As I go through nursing school, I’m learning the importance of talking to others, reflecting on my experiences, and using healthy coping strategies to manage stress in a better way.

How do emotional intelligence skills impact communication?

Emotional intelligence has a strong impact on communication, especially in nursing. Being able to understand and manage my own emotions helps me stay professional and calm, even in difficult situations. It also helps me to be more aware of how others are feeling, so I can respond with empathy and respect. Whether I’m talking to patients, classmates, or instructors, emotional intelligence allows me to listen better, show compassion, and build trust. These skills are essential for effective communication and for creating a positive and supportive environment in healthcare.

How can you work better with people of different personality types?

Working with people who have different personalities can be challenging, but it also helps me grow. I’ve learned that being open-minded, respectful, and flexible makes teamwork easier. Some people are more outgoing, while others are quiet or detail-focused, and that’s okay—we all have different strengths. To work better with others, I try to listen actively, avoid making assumptions, and communicate clearly. I’m also learning to appreciate the value that different perspectives bring to the team. By focusing on shared goals and being willing to adapt, I can build stronger relationships and work more effectively with everyone.
