BEFORE THE PRESENTATION

Before learning more about stress and coping mechanisms, my understanding was limited. I thought stress was always negative and something to be avoided. I did not fully realize that stress could also be normal and even helpful response in some situations. I believed that coping just meant trying to distract myself from problems, like watching TV or sleeping more.

AFTER THE PRESENTATION

My understanding was now deepened significantly. I learned that stress is not always harmful it can actually motivate us to perform better, as long it's managed properly. I also discovered that there are two main types of coping: problem-focused coping, which deals with the cause of stress, and emotion focused coping, which helps manage emotional responses. I now understand that healthy coping strategies such as talking to someone I trust, practicing mindfulness, or organising my task are more effective than avoiding the problem.
