When we talk  about loss and grief there are a variety of situations which contribute to these concepts and not only death. When someone experiences a divorce, loss of any limb or loosing something of essential value all these situations can lead to grief and as nurses I believe we have to assess for any signs of anxiety, depression or weight loss after interacting with a patient to be able to understand the main aspect of grieving and with death its important to support the families of patients who don't make it.
