Being a first-year student and going through all the well-presented presentations made me realize that loss is not just about death. It also includes losing independence, health, and even a role in life. Looking at the stages of grief was really insightful and made me understand that people deal with grief in different ways, and I should allow them the space to do so when I’m working as a nurse.

I say this because nurses should not just focus on physical care, but emotional care as well. I’ve come to understand the importance of active listening through the presentation, because sometimes that’s all a patient or the person next to me needs.

What stood out for me the most was how different cultural backgrounds influence how people grieve and express their emotions. So, being equipped with the knowledge and understanding of different cultures will help me be more effective in the care I provide to my patients.
